President's Report

Friends and Colleagues,

In 2013, the NYCFE has already presented three evening membership training dinner meetings, a morning breakfast session on Ethics, held jointly with the Association of Inspectors General and our all-day Domestic and International Markets Conference at John Jay College for Criminal Justice.

Now, as the summer is winding down, we, at NYCFE, have been gearing up for our upcoming Fall schedule.

Our next membership meeting is scheduled for September 11, 2013. This will be our second annual joint event with the Society of Professional Investigators. The special guest speaker will be Michael N. Emmerman.

Mr. Emmerman assists law enforcement agencies and the military with cases involving international money laundering perpetrated by organized crime, drug traffickers and terrorists.

He has served as a disaster response specialist at many major disaster scenes including the TWA Flight 800 recovery operation and at the World Trade Center on 9-11, where he was trapped by debris. After his experience on 9-11, he has dedicated much of his time to educating the public about disaster preparedness, and working with federal law enforcement agencies and the United States military on issues of money laundering, threat financing and terrorism.

We can think of no more appropriate way of commemorating the 12th anniversary of the most horrific event in New York City history than having Mr. Emmerman as our honored speaker.

Our second all day conference of the year is scheduled for October 25, 2013. The theme of our fall conference is “Risk, Regulation, Investigation and Compliance”.

As has become custom, the NYCFE will be sponsoring a networking reception to meet the speakers the evening before the conference at no charge for our members.

We are also very proud to have re-instituted our NYCFE Scholarship Program to help deserving students earn a scholarship paying for the CFE Examination and Preparation Course. In conjunction with our corporate sponsors, we award five scholarships to deserving students at each of our two annual conferences.

We are very proud that the NYCFE membership count has now exceeded 200 CFE’s, Associates and students. We look forward to continued growth. Our membership cost is still only $50.

For more information on membership, events and corporate sponsorships, please visit our web site at www.nycfe.org or contact us at info@nycfe.org.

The mission of the NYCFE, now in our 23rd year, is to provide the best quality training and networking opportunities at affordable prices.

I am looking forward to personally greeting you at our upcoming vents.

Warmest regards,

Alan I. Blass, CPA, CPE
