NYCFE August 25th Virtual Meeting, 2CPEs
The NYCFE is pleased to welcome Tom Hardin, Founder of Tipper X Advisors, as he presents:
Assessing Culture and Mitigating Misconduct Risk
Tom will discuss his past few years as corporate conduct, behavioral ethics, and compliance trainer, and advisor in the financial services industry. He'll highlight deficiencies in a firm's culture which point to heightened misconduct risk, often before it's flagged by compliance or surveillance. While the traditional view is that the problem in an organization is a few bad apples in a barrel, Tom will discuss why deterrence and punishment are often not effective ways of changing future behavior and how both executives and employees often take cues from their peers in making decisions which could lead to becoming involved in, acquiescing to or being actively complicit in unethical, and even civil or criminal violations of law without being inherently "evil people".
Attendees will be entitled to 2 CPE Ethics credits!

Tom Hardin’s Bio
Tom Hardin previously spent much of his career as a hedge fund analyst. In 2009, as part of a cooperation agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, Tom assisted the U.S. government in understanding how insider trading occurred in the hedge fund industry. Known as “Tipper X,” Tom became one of the most prolific informants in securities fraud history, helping to build over 20 of the 80+ individual criminal cases in “Operation Perfect Hedge,” a Wall Street house cleaning campaign that morphed into the largest insider trading investigation of a generation. Since resolving his case in 2015, Tom was invited by FBI-NYC to speak to their rookie agent class in 2016 and is now a global corporate trainer and advisor on conduct, behavioral ethics, and compliance from his former frontline perspective. He holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
